I’m Mira Zaki, a New York City based, globally traveling photographer, photojournalist, author, and instructor.

One day when I was 8 years old, I picked up my parent’s Polaroid camera and took a photo. The moment the photo came out, I felt the most comfortable I had ever felt, and found a healing way to express myself. I haven’t looked back since!

I’m a globe-trotter with a rebel heart and big vision. Born into an Egyptian-American family, it became my life mission to capture and celebrate diversity while elevating our shared human experience. Through photography I found my medium of how to tell stories, stories of culture, people, places, politics, power, of world culture which lit my imagination. I’ve spent the last 3 decades plus capturing life, culture, food, hospitality, and some of the most fascinating humans and places on the planet.


I’ve long dreamt of going to Mexico during the precious and deeply meaningful celebration of Dia de los Muertos! I can’t wait to see you there!
