SalaamGarage, a digital storytelling organization that partners with International NGOs and local non-profits brings “citizen journalists” including amateur and professional photographers, writers, videographers on trips to connect with international NGOs, create and share independent media projects that raise awareness and cause positive change in their online and offline social communities. Salaam Garage partners with grass roots, forward thinking organizations. Through our trips, citizen journalists experiences rare access to the work of social entrepreneurs that would otherwise go unreported, while engaging with local communities on an entirely new level. Participants are on-the-ground as creative global citizens, communicators, and change makers.
Partnered with Agros International, SalaamGarage’s citizen journalists reveal the remarkable story of rural Guatemalan families successfully breaking a 30 year cycle of poverty and civil war through microloans.
